April 2021 Meeting - Torsion box construction
Torsion boxes allow furniture makers to create large, flat surfaces that weigh a lot less than the equivalent solid timber surface would weight. They are often used in the dining table construction to reduce weight.
Life member Ian Houghton will talk about his experiences creating a torsion box.
There will also be the usual “Show, Tell and Ask” session so please bring along suitable items for a brief presentation. If you have such items, please see Carolyn Ellis before the commencement of the meeting so that time can be allocated to include them in the programme.
