Join us for our next meeting at the Lake Monger Community Shed as we explore the world of hinges — a fundamental yet often overlooked component in fine woodworking. We’ll be exploring a range of hinge types through discussion, samples, and demonstrations, including both installed examples and practical insights you can apply to your own projects.
We’re looking forward to an engaging and practical evening, with several of our experienced members sharing their knowledge across a range of hinge styles and applications. Expect to see samples, installed examples, and possibly a demonstration or two.
Peter Hall – Rob Cosman Style Wooden HingesPeter will showcase wooden hinges in the style popularised by Rob Cosman. He’ll share examples and talk through their construction, use, and where they might suit your projects.
Ian Houghton (Life member) – Hinges for Carcasses and CabinetsLife member Ian will cover hinge options for cabinet and carcass work, discussing selection, installation, and practical considerations for achieving reliable and tidy results.
Paul Birchall (Life member) – Hinges for Jewellery BoxesPaul will talk about choosing, sourcing, and fitting hinges for jewellery boxes—from the small and affordable through to more decorative and high-end options.
