Introduction

 

The Fine Woodwork Association of WA (Inc), also known as FWWA, is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and the conditions protecting your personal information as described in the Privacy Act 1998 and amended by the Privacy Amendment (Enhancing Privacy Protection) Act 2012. The FWWA is a not-for-profit organisation whose goal is to promote fine woodworking in Western Australia.

We collect and store your personal information to promote and report on our our events, and to promote upcoming events. We may use your personal information for direct marketing activities.

As a member, you are required to provide us with a limited amount of your personal information; however, when you do provide us with your personal information, you are consenting to the terms outlined in this Privacy Statement. We may not be able to provide our events and services to you if you do not choose to provide us with your personal information.

We collect only the minimum amount of personal information required for us to information to you, our member.

We use our website to promote and report on our events, share articles, and provide member contact details to existing members. We collect enough personal information to do this. You must be a financial member of the FWWA to access other members private information.

We use the Facebook platform for sharing information about our events, activities, and links to interesting articles and videos on the Internet. Facebook collects personal information that is relevant to your activities on Facebook, and we may use that information in the promotion of our events and activities. By interacting with our Facebook page, you consent to us using the personal information that Facebook captures.

We collect the following personal information through our websites:

  • Name.

  • Home address.

  • E-mail address.

  • Telephone number.

We DO NOT collect or store credit card details.

 

How do we collect and store personal information?

 

We collect your personal information in several ways:

  1. From your membership form when you become a member of the FWWA;

  2. By verbally asking you to provide that information during a face-to-face or telephone conversation.

  3. By e-mail when appropriate.

  4. By using the data captured by Facebook when you like, share, or comment on posts made to our Facebook page, or when you share posts to our Facebook page.

  5. By using the data captured by Google Analytics when you access our website.

General rule

We will use your personal information to promote our upcoming events, report on previous events, requests for commissions, and sales of members’ tools and timber.

The FWWA Committee will only voluntarily allow disclosure of your personal information to third party service providers under the following circumstances:

  1. To facilitate the delivery of an event that you are participating in;

  2. To provide you with promotional materials such as newsletters, product promotions, tips, etc.

We will only disclose the minimum amount of your personal information to third party service providers to allow them to perform the services we have engaged them to perform on our behalf.

We may choose to use third party services providers located outside Australia and disclose appropriate personal information required for them to perform the contracted service.

 

Exceptions to the general rule

 

In cases where the disclosure of your personal information is not covered by the general rule, we will only disclose your personal information to a third party:

  1. When ordered to by an Australian Court of Law, or.

  2. With your permission.
