November 2025 Meeting

< Back

When:

17 November 2025

7:00PM - 9:00PM

Come along for an informative evening.

We’ve got two great sessions lined up that’ll keep your projects sturdy and your shed standing!

The Mechano-Sorptive Effect of Wood — with Hiski Kippo

It’s a bit of a mouthful, but do you know what it actually means? Hiski will break down the science behind the mechano-sorptive effect — how moisture and stress interact in timber — and how you can use it to create stable, stress-free wood for your builds.

You’ll learn:

  • What the mechano-sorptive effect is and why it matters

  • How to use it to produce long-lasting, high-quality furniture

If you’ve ever wondered why some timber stays straight while other bits twist and warp, this one’s for you.

Fire Safety in the Workshop — with Roger

Then, we’ll hand things over to Roger for a magical mystery tour of workshop fire safety. We’re not entirely sure what he’s got planned (he’s keeping it quiet), but we reckon it’ll cover how not to burn down your shed — and a few other important tips along the way.

You’ll learn:

  • Practical ways to keep your workshop fire-safe

  • Maybe even something you didn’t know you needed to know!

👉 Come along for a yarn, a cuppa, and a couple of informative sessions — learn something new, share your own know-how, and help keep our workshops safe and sound!
