The Fine Woodwork Association recently enjoyed a productive and engaging day at the Timbecon Wood Craft Fair. Despite a misty start to the morning, the fog soon cleared to make way for a scorching Australian sun. However, the heat didn't deter the crowds, with a steady stream of visitors stopping by our expansive display area throughout the day.
Highlights of the Display:
International Flair: We showcased exceptional pieces from our members' recent woodworking adventures in Japan.

Expert Demonstrations: Life Member Ian Houghton provided masterclasses in sharpening card scrapers and edged tools, while Allan Waugh captivated onlookers with a continuous demonstration of intricate kumiko panel assembly.

Interactive Workshop: The team stayed busy all day leading chopstick-making sessions, encouraging visitors to pick up a plane and craft their own take-home souvenir.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Our embellished panels, decorative boxes, and the ever-popular kumiko work drew significant interest. Most importantly, the event served as a fantastic recruitment drive, with several attendees expressing a keen interest in joining the FWWA.

A massive thank you goes out to the dedicated volunteers who braved the heat to represent the Association. This successful outing wouldn't have been possible without your time and expertise.
