Student - Conditions of Entry

  1. Conditions are to be read in conjunction with the Entry Form and Competition & Exhibition Adult Award and Category descriptions.
  2. Entries may be lodged using the on-line Registration Form. Entry procedures are given on the Entry Page.
  3. Entries close at 5:00PM on Monday 27th November 2023. 
  4. This Competition and Exhibition is open to all Western Australian secondary schools from year 7 to year 12. 
  5. Items must be delivered to the Curator at the Venue between Midday and 4PM, Friday 1st December 2023.  ITEMS NOT RECEIVED BY 4:00PM ON FRIDAY WILL NOT BE JUDGED. Persons delivering items for registration will be issued with a receipt, which should be held and presented as evidence of ownership at collection on Sunday. See also condition 11.
  6. Transportation and packaging of items to and from the Exhibition is the responsibility of the entrant. 
  7. Student or School names shall not be shown on or attached to any entry to ensure anonymity during judging. (If identification is on the item the Curator may elect to cover this identification during the judging.)
  8. The Exhibition Curator reserves the right to reject any item or to place it in another category. Rejected items shall be collected by arrangement with the Exhibition Curator no later than 4:00PM Sunday 3rd December 2023.
  9. All items shall remain on display for the duration of the Exhibition.
  10. Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd shall be presented at an Awards ceremony at 1:30pm Sunday 3rd December 2023 at the Exhibition.
  11. Items must be collected from the Exhibition venue between 3:00PM - 4:00pm, Sunday 3rd December 2023. Neither the Curator nor the FWWA WA Inc shall be responsible for any items not collected by 4:00PM.
  12. An entrant may authorize another person to collect any item by written authority lodged with the Exhibition Curator. The person picking up the entry should also produce the receipt issued at registration.
  13. The Exhibition Curator will take all reasonable care of items, but takes no responsibility for damage, theft or loss. Insurance for items is the responsibility of the entrant.
  14. Items may be photographed for use by the FWWA (WA) Inc.
  15. The judging criteria can be viewed at Judging Process Student Categories 
  16. The Judges’ decision is final and binding. No correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
  17. If the entry piece is fitted with locks the Curator must receive a key for judging purposes. Special features should be included in the description field on the entry form, e.g. secret drawers.
  18. Student entry is free of charge.
  19. The WA Fine Wood Work Association will actively promote the entry of Year 11 and 12 place-getters’ pieces in the 2024 Australian Wood Review Student Awards.
  20. Data (names, contact details) gathered in the competition entry process will only be used for the purposes of managing the Out of the Woods competition. Deletion of data for a particular entrant can be requested by email to the Curator.
  21. Notification of awards won, and requests for further information, will be sent to the Teacher.
