Limited spots remain for the 5-Day Chair Design Masterclass led by Micahel Fortune and hosted by the Fine Woodwork Association of WA (FWWA) in January 2027.

Out of the Woods winning wood turner Jim Parker talked about his wood turning philosophy and journey to becoming an award winning wood turner at our August meeting.

We learned about online security threats and Japanese Boxes at the July meeting. A strange pair of bed fellows, but the evening was very interesting.

The finer details of hardware installation recently took center stage at a community meeting, where local woodworkers Peter Hall and Life Members Ian Houghton and Paul Birchall shared their individual workshop philosophies and practical troubleshooting tips. The discussion highlighted how choosing and installing the right hinge remains a crucial, yet often understated, art form in fine woodworking.

The FWWA is hosting its very first specialized box lining workshop. Guided by Harry, this 6-person micro-class covers the properties and best uses of various lining materials, proper adhesive applications, and backing techniques. Every attendee will practice these skills directly on a solid Jarrah box using micro-fibre lining and card, which they will take home fully completed.
